If you've ever enjoyed fires on Ocean Beach, please read and take 5 minutes to help protect the unique opportunity for us to congregate (and maybe drink a few beers) over a fire alongside the ocean. This is a no bullshit situation.
Please write an e-mail and/or call the below number to let them know you STRONGLY oppose a ban and encourage finding other solutions to the problem. This is very important.
Please call (415) 561-4723
Or send an e-mail to rudy_evenson@nps.gov
Or send a letter to:
Superintendent's Office
Attn: Ocean Beach Fires
NPS-GGNRA
Bldg 201 Fort Mason
San Francisco, CA 94123
Public Comment ends April 15. Spread the word. Let others know. This public comment line is being used in their decision making process and not being ignored. An absence of a strong voice is implicit consent.
I encourage you to be direct without being harsh. Let them know you oppose any type of ban that restricts responsible users like ourselves of course, and are willing to help find a solution. You could also let them know the importance of the bonfires to you personally. Leave your name.
Lates my friends,
Mugs

Re: SPEAK UP - No bans on Ocean Beach Bonfires!!!
Fri, March 24, 2006 - 3:35 AMI've always loved a good beach bonfire since I was a kid. We threw some great beach parties in my highschool years that were very memorable for me.
We also used to comb the beach next day, picking up ALL trash (not just ours) and make the place look good.
People should be allowed to have bonfire and enjoy the fun of it.
Anyone that doesn't clean up their mess after or responible manage the fire should be incarcereated for a VERY long time, or at the least, be liable for the costs of cleaning the beach.
