ask the submissive

The Society of Janus, a well respected pansexual kink organization here in San Francisco is reaching out to the community at large for this upcoming panel discussion, moderated by one of our own. Please take a moment to consider this event:

Janus Presents: "Ask the bottom", an evening of Q&A with a cross- selection of local personalities on the bottom/submissive/slave/boy/girl/ property side of the SM Power continuum.

Tuesday, November 13
SF Citadel
8:00pm - 10:00pm (Doors open at 7:00pm)
$5 for Janus Members, $15 for non-members (you do not
need to be a member to attend)

What motivates a person to walk the path of slavery? What does a submissive want? What joys do those on the bottoming end of the equation receive from their relationships - and what frustrations? What are the differences that distinguish bottom, slave, boy/girl, submissive, proeprty, and how on earth do we come to those definitions?

Ever wanted to ask questions like these, or others? Then this is an opportunity to pick the brains of an awesome and distinguished line-
up of local SM community teachers, players, mentors and activists.

We have a terrifically diverse panel for you: jody / patrick / boyjean / mercedes / andrea / slavebill have all agreed to answer your questions and share their thoughts and motivations on why they do what they do. bethie Hope O will facilitate the questions and keep the discussion moving smoothly.

This will be a moderated discussion panel, with the opportunity to submit written inquiries anonymously as well as ask your questions
directly. Please join us for this rare opportunity to delve into the mind of these mysterious and intelligent people. You may also send
questions about the event or questions to be discussed at the event to programs at soj dot org

Bethie Hope O identifies as a service-oriented slave and adult little girl. She is very blessed to be a ollared slave to her Daddy for the past 2 years. Bethie believes in creating open, supportive communities and is active in both the BDSM and age play communities. She is honored to be an officer in the Society of Janus and she is the creator and moderator of Submissive Safe Space; a monthly discussion group comprised of like minded submissives and slaves. On-line Bethie moderates discussion groups for age play, submission and survivors of abuse and trauma. She lives in the East Bay area with her Daddy, four dogs, 2 turtles and an obscene quantity of stuffed animals. Her favorite crayon is cornflower blue, unsharpened.

slavebill has been an active member of the Leather Community for almost 20 years and is in his 12th year of service to his Master. he is a co-founder of the San Francisco chapter of the Defenders, has served on the Steering Committee of the Leathermen's Discussion Group and has participated in many workshops including Leather Levi Weekend, the San Francisco boys of Leather, and the Society of Janus. he was a co-sponsor of the Leather Traditions' Service Weekend held last May. In addition to being a 24x7 non-live-in slave, he has a non-leather partner of 25+ years who is understanding and accepting of bill's calling to service as a slave.

Steve Ward has been a member of the Bay Area Leather / kink community for 10 years. He joined the San Francisco boys of Leather in 2002, and was mentored by many of the more prominent Bay Area Dominants and submissives. Steve serves the 15 Association, as member of the Fraternal Committee and Membership Coordinator. He is also President of the Defenders San Francisco, is a steering committee member of the Leathermen’s Discussion Group, and a representative to the San Francisco Leather Forum. Steve has been involved with Leather-Levi Week-end from 2003 through 2006, on the Spirituality Committee, and organized their annual Cocktail Party to welcome newcomers to the community. In his spare time, Steve is a committee member of the upcoming Leather Leadership Conference 12, to be held in 2008 in San Francisco, and is on a newly-formed Bay Area ad hoc committee of the National Coalition for Sexual Freedom.
Steve is 55, single…..and always looking for new opportunities.

patrick was a late bloomer to BDSM. Growing up in a Catholic household in a small, rural Southern town, he had no clue that including hot wax, needles and rope to his youthful explorations of his body meant he was masochistic; it just felt good. Fast-forward to Folsom Street Fair 2003, where his heart melted and his cock hardened watching a Daddy flog His boy. Finally, after reading the "Beauty Series" pushed him to the point of no return, he had his first scene and was introduced to his boy-self. Since entering the public scene, he has had the good fortune never to have served a Dominant unworthy of his submission, and twice has proudly worn the collars of exceptional Men. Currently, he is a slave-in-training to Master Patrick Mulcahey, whom he knows loves and treasures him. he believes in the importance of giving back to his community, and when his work schedule and Master allow, enjoys volunteering at leather events.

andrea Arkouda started her lifestyle journey in 2003 in search of a relationship in which trust was valued above all else. For her, service and obedience are the avenues to achieving a deep interpersonal connection, and completion. she served her first Master for two years, and is now in service to and wears the collar of consideration of Eric Arkouda. With him, she lives a 24/7 M/s lifestyle, and together they host the San Francisco D/s Discussion Group.

Fag Fridays leaving the End Up???

Juanita More, SF Drag royalty, sent this to me in another forum. Can someone confirm this and maybe explain why? I, for one, am not excited about this move. I love Fag Fridays at the End Up. We homos bring in alot of business and enjoy the space and know that on a Friday night, we can always head to SOMA. 16th and Mission, although closer to my house, doesn't sound as appealing. And Pink is not as big.

Thoughts?

--------------------------
Many of you have probably already heard the rumors - Fag Fridays will be leaving the End Up.

The End Up itself has always been a San Francisco institution. Most famous for it's Sunday morning dance party - which, after Saturday night would reopen promptly at 6 AM. Giving you one of the best places to continue partying from your Saturday night out. But, that was era's ago. It's star turn tarnished in the late 80's with its notable decadent drug use and the onslaught of AIDS. The only thing keeping it alive during those dark years was the sub-culture weekly club Uranus. Then, they almost closed during another dark period when San Francisco politicians tried to shut down SOMA nightlife all together.

Fast-forward.

11 years ago Dave Peterson and Jose Mineros - founders of Fag Fridays, decided to fill a void in San Francisco's gay nightclub scene. They brought together some of the best DJ's of House Music locally and internationally. Creating one of the most diverse dance clubs in San Francisco, to date. When they began Fag Fridays, they were also revitalizing what was at that time a sorely dying club - The End Up. Though, I have such insane recollections of partying at The End Up in it's hey day, they don't live up to the memories of the family David and Jose have created over the past 11 years. I have performed on the dance floor, outdoors by the fountain, on the bar, in the front room, the back room, hosted so many parties and countless New Years Eve's, I could never count them! In other words I am a fan and proud to say a part of the Fag Fridays Family.

Let's support what has now become an institution - they will be open every Friday until October 12, 2007 at the End Up. I will also be hosting that closing night and the opening party of the new Fag Friday's location at Pink in the Mission the following weekend - Friday, October 19, 2007.

David and Jose, the amazing family you have helped to create will follow and continue to party with you where ever you go. Long live the Legendary Fag Fridays!

Loads of Love,

Juanita

http://www.mighty119.com

FROM THE END IN LONDON, TO DC10 IN IBIZA : DESTINATION MIGHTY, SF

San Francisco, CA – August 17, 2007 -- Residents of London’s famed THE END and Ibiza’s renown Superfreq parties are coming to San Francisco. Mighty and Non-Fat present to you “The Superfreq Express” featuring the former member of The Shamen and “Tech House” originator/catalyst, MR.C; his protégé and esteemed producer, Adultnapper (Francis Harris); and the next big thing in Electro House – Dollz At Play. Featuring a feast of cosmopolitan, techno-electro, acid, minimal house and techno beats from legends and prodigies– this is a show San Francisco will never forget.

For over 5 years now, the Superfreq nights have been one of the best underground parties around the world continually challenging eclectic electro, house and minimal techno sounds. They currently run every Sunday at The End, as well as select North American dates with Made Event in New York & Miami with a new quarterly residency at Avalon Hollywood in Los Angeles. After three fantastic seasons in Ibiza, the party successfully migrated from club Underground to the legendary DC 10 last year and the mayhem is now fully underway every Wednesday this summer. In 2005, Superfreq Records was established with partner Luke vB and currently the label is establishing a firm foothold in the world of cutting edge electronic dance music while still retaining a serious element of fun inherent in the Superfreq mantra. On the production front Mr. C has teamed up with Brooklyn’s emerging talent the nefarious Adultnapper, under the guise of the Sycophant Slags.

A true pioneer of dance music Mr. C scaled pop culture heights with the psychedelic-influenced techno-rave act The Shamen in the 1990s as pioneers of the rock/dance crossover and harbingers of today’s scene. His devotion to underground dance music and ascension as tech-house doyen and co-owner of London’s popular The End nightclub has kept Mr. C at the top of his game and a mainstay of the global techno scene. "I phoned round the main movers and groovers in the tech-house scene and said, 'Look, if we all start using this word to create a genre for ourselves, the press can jump on it. All of a sudden we're going to be seen as the leaders of this music.' And it worked.” His commitment to experimentation and credibility in setting the standards for sophistication in all sub-genres of dance music has earned him world-wide prestige as he endeavors to take the sounds of the underground to new and more accessible heights.

Relying primarily on the ancient art of mixing two records, Francis Harris’s precision skills and thoughtful programming have earned him a reputation as DJ equal to his regard as producer an uncommon distinction. Adultnapper tracks have since appeared on some of the world‘s most esteemed labels Steve Bug’s Audiomatique, Frank Lorber‘s Nummer, Mr. C’s Superfreq, Mule Electronic, Dirt Crew, etc. and have been hotly tipped by elite Djs Loco Dice, Danny Tenaglia, Craig Richards, Sven Vath, Laurent Garnier, Sasha, Monika Kruse, Steve Lawler, Danny Howells, etc. thus firmly establishing Harris as one rare purveyor who steadfastly challenges the conventional wisdom and accepted shortcuts of post modern electronic music. On the decks, Harris intricately weaves divergent strains into a thick, pumping groove that subtly rises and falls, drawing the crowd ever deeper within his emotion-laden, melodic journey. Circo Loco at DC10, Ibiza, Cielo in NY, The End, Mulletover in London, Weekend in Berlin, Pawn Shop in Miami, Avalon in LA, are just a few of the world’s discerning floors that have been graced by Adultnapper and been left clamoring for more.

Dollz at Play are a new concept in dance music & with their punky, rocky style are the new generation of Electro-House. If you haven't heard of the Dollz At Play by now then you've been hiding under a rock for the last couple of years. The Dollz continue their proliferation of the dance music world in their own unique style by completely capturing the imagination of the unsuspecting masses.
On top of holding down their residencies at Superfreq at The End in London on Sundays & DC10 Ibiza on Wednesdays the Dollz At Play have been ultra busy jet setting around the world to the far flung reaches of the planet, playing their own take on modern electronic dance music. Since their rise & rise, the Dollz At Play have been picked up by some of the best DJ agencies in the world including www.wildebookings.com worldwide, www.itb.co.uk for the UK & naomismart@gmail.com in Mexico. They've become a sensation not only in the UK where the Dollz are based but also in Germany & France. Not only do the Dollz have great musical taste & technical ability but they are also uber-stylish, often raising the bar with fashion related to music. Having graced the front cover of DJ Mag and conquered gigs most DJs only dream of, Dollz at Play are giving new meaning to “revolution”.

Mighty is opening the flood gates to a minimal-techno-acid-house revolution that will surely change how San Francisco parties – and their bringing the people who created, make, sustain and operate the infamous DC10 and The End to make it happen.

Shagadelica; the Burning Man project you've been looking for - Get involved!

If you've been looking for a great burning man project to get involved, look no further! Shagadelica is recruiting volunteers to finish building its outrageous art car this year. Our warehouse is 10 minutes from SF in Oakland. Get excited by the concept below and contact Jim Abrams at (732) 619-6146 jim@jimabrams.com or drop by the shop at 1960 Mandela Parkway Bay 6 East Oakland, CA 94607 and offer to help. SHAGADELICA WILL CAMP AT THE DEEP END.

Shagadelica is a convertible double decker bus that will be wrapped up with glowing fur (basically back lighted with 300,000 LEDs that can change colors) See www.glowfur.com/. All inside, outside and ceiling surfaces will be covered and the inside of the first level will be outfitted in high end limo style and the open upstairs will have a DJ booth, 10,000W of sound, a 1.5W laser, a slide, a round bed shaped like a UFO and mounted on a hydraulic platform that can lift and rotate the bed 15 feet from the second story and a ride composed of a cluster of giant helium balloons that will fly someone connected to the bus about 100 feet in the air ;-) Oh, I forgot, we also have a concert truss frame on top where 2 giant arms extend from outside the bus and lift 2 dances cages outfitted with porn stars or whoever you want really… As if it wasn’t enough, we have a 16 feet trailer that carry a 5,000 lbs generator that can power Dallas and has room for storage, a bike rack and a landing pad for our Gopher Glowfur Vehicle (GGV), our useful little furry vehicle that can go and pick up people to bring them to party central!
2007 HAIGHT STREET FAIR / NEEDS YOUR SUPPORT!!

Well, here the Haight Street Fair is in 2007 with a small minority of squeky wheels making some noise about our fair.

In Pablo's passing a two year old group has increased their demands on us. Some folks from the Haight Ashbury Neighborhood Council (H.A.N.C.) have heard gossip of their intentions of either trying to take over the fair or force us under their control.

Members of the Haight Street Fair Board have sat in a few meetings with HAIA, CVIA HANC (the real group that represents the neighborhood, without having to say it) and a couple of other groups that are out of the haight village or have one member Impovement Group status.

Supivisor Ross, District 5; has hosted a few meetings for us. He has been helpful in trying to create some fair ground for everyone. With all of his efforts we are still in conflict with a group that does not act in good faith towards us.

In one meeting that Ross called in city hall a member of the HAIA, Michael O'Connor (Whom is a third owner of the nightclub, THE INDEPENDENT; on Divisidaro St) spoke out strongly against the Haight Street Fair. Thanks Michael O'Conner!

We went into our ISCOTT hearing last Thursday and the president Mr. Lee put a hold on our street closure permit hearing for two weeks.

Please spread this information out!

The attack on street fairs is an increase of killing SF culture.............I love my urban city very much............and do take seriously that WE here in SF are in the middle of a culture war right now.

Brad and the How Weird Street Fair got their permits after being rejected. But with huge new demands, their time was cut from 8pm to 6pm, and Brad cannot have his fair there in 2008!

To show some support you can come down to our hearing on:

THURSDAY MARCH 22ND @ 10am SHARP!
@ 1 South Van Nes Ave. 7th Floor San Francisco

or you can email your support to:

Cindy Shamban
Department of Parking and Traffic
415. 701.4683
Cindy.Shamban@sfmta.com

Lets not let this happen guys and grrls.......we need your love and support.

Singer iso musicians in San Francisco/Bay Area

Singer/frontman here looking for musicians to start a new project/group. I've been frontman for heavy alternative bands like Juggernaut in San diego, an acoustic solo act and electric soul rock band-"Blue Buddha" in San Francisco. As well as singing House Music with DJ's like Sir Charles in clubs in SF.

Looking to merge some electronic, soul, electronica, rock, jazz and...into one smooth, funky sound of luscious layers dripping with sinewy emotions and sensuality!!

Check out some sound clips of my voice, songs I've written and video of us performing in India in 2005: www.myspace.com/bluebuddhamusic
www.bluebuddhasbasement.net

I've written some music, but looking to sing and not play guitar

Look forward to hearing from you, thanks!

peace, blue buddha

Did everyone have fun at Substance? Gads what a blast.

Smash Up Derby kicked some serious ass.

All the DJ's also outdid themselves, with Donimo and Diablo breaking out of the 80's and into the new shit with some serious hard hitting electro-breaks.

I suppose its' time to let the cat outta the bag. Substance it's JUST 80's... we do a lot of 80's.. but after a while, it's time to break out into something a little different, a little newer, and a little more edge.

Join the biggest names in the dance music community raising funds for NextAid! Our goal to raise $20,000 will benefit the continuing development of our earth-friendly child support center in Dennilton, South Africa.

We're auctioning off everything from top DJ and studio gear, music production software, midi sample and loop libraries, flyer design and recording studio services, to once-in-a-lifetime experiences with your favorite artists! Also note that a generous private donor will be matching all proceeds, so your winning bid will go twice as far as it would otherwise. Seriously, there are some great deals available and it's for a great cause to boot!

***this is for anyone throwing a party during Loveweek (weekly, monthly, one time) ***

As you well know, Love Fest is coming next month and I'm (Carolina Quijano) one of the volunteers for promotions, not to mention I'm also a writer for Nitevibe. I'm writing all promoters/clubs to ask if you want your event(s) to be a Love affiliated event for the Love Fest.

If you do, we will include your party info on our website and offer lots of promotion. To see parties already listed on our site, please visit http://www.sflovefest.org/afterparty.php.

Weekdays events can be listed with both graphic (flyer) and text for free. Weekend events that are just text can be listed for free. If you want to include a flyer or a graphic, then there is a $100 charge (because we have to pay a web person to do it).

If interested, please email me back with all the details for your party and graphic/flyer (if you want us to include one).

Thank you and feel free to email me back with any questions

--

Hey there folks, I’m here trying to promote my web-radio show that I do on W00t Radio! It’s a two hour web broadcast for a video gaming site where I get to play all the gothic, industrial, trance, synth-pop, ambient dark wave, and underground alternative music my flinty little heart desires. If that’s of interest to anyone, please tune in at www.w00tradio.net Wed, Thurs, & Fri 10am-Noon PST. I’m listed as DJ Krelo on the schedule and I’m always looking for new listeners, as well as help acquiring new music. Please, listen in and let me know what you think!

If you've ever enjoyed fires on Ocean Beach, please read and take 5 minutes to help protect the unique opportunity for us to congregate (and maybe drink a few beers) over a fire alongside the ocean. This is a no bullshit situation.

Please write an e-mail and/or call the below number to let them know you STRONGLY oppose a ban and encourage finding other solutions to the problem. This is very important.

Due to overwhelming response from the 5th Saturday in 2005, The Endup is proud to bring to the 80's, Endup Style!

We've booked in our opinion, the two hottest 80's DJ's in the entire Bay Area. Nobody has been spinning the 80's regularly as much as these two, nor do they play the FULL range of 80's without just focusing on one aspect. They bring something for everyone to enjoy more than a John Huges movie.

Featuring DJs:

The Melting Girl (1984, Death Guild)
Damon (1984, Gossip, Bondage A Go Go

Unlike any other 80's party in the bay area, The End Up is not closing. There is no "Time to go home" on this night until you're ready. We're staying open until after noon the next day! So come out, have fun, dance until you feet hurt then drink a few to forget about your feet!

If you haven't been to the end up in the past few months, then you don't know what you're missing!

Feedback for the Endup?

Hi everyone at the Endup Tribe, this is Sydney, one of the lucky ones who inherited this awesome institution from Carl Hanken.

It's been almost 7 months since we took over operation, and we have had a lot of feedbacks from customers, mostly good, some very constructive criticism. I understand that as new guardians of such an amazing place, we are in charge of something bigger than us. The Endup belongs to all who loves music, who loves to dance and who likes to have a great time, and most importantly, for those of us who believes diversity and acceptance are two things that the Endup represents.

I would love to hear from any of you to give us feedback, both criticism and good things, if any, that we have tried to bring forth to the Endup.

Thanks again for your continued support and loyalty!

Sydney

1973 Disco takes the country by storm.

1973 The Endup opens its doors in San Francisco.

1975 Disco citizens master the Hustle.

1976 They trade in the Hustle for the Bus Stop.

1977 Donna Summer's "I Feel Love" sets the stage for house sounds to come.

1977 The Warehouse opens in Chicago. Patrons later coin the phrase "house" to describe the music at the club.

1977 Paradise Garage opens in New York City. Patrons later coin the phrase "garage" to describe the music at the club.

1977 Harvey Milk elected a San Francisco supervisor, becoming the first openly gay elected official of a major U.S. city.

1978 Milk and Mayor George Moscone are assassinated at City Hall.

1979 Gloria Gaynor lures the brokenhearted back onto the dance floor with "I Will Survive."

1979 Thousands of White Sox fans burn disco records on the field of Chicago's Comiskey Park during the infamous Disco Demolition Night.

1979 Outrage over the lenient treatment of Milk and Moscone's killer, Dan White, leads to the "White Night" riots.

1981 The first cases of a strange new disease that attacks the immune system are reported to the CDC.

1982 The disease gets a name: AIDS.

1983 Indeep's "Last Night a DJ Saved My Life" becomes an Endup anthem.

1989 The term "rave" comes into use. It will later be added to dictionaries.

1990 A modified version of the Hustle called the Electric Slide is all the rage.

1991 Three English expats calling themselves Wicked arrive in San Francisco and begin throwing outdoor full-moon parties.

Hot Damn last night's show was off the hook! It was even better than I had hoped. The audience over at the Endup was so damn receptive and all the girlz were just on point. i've never seen so many smiling faces getting sprayed with blood!
Thank you to shatter and the folks at The Endup for putting Broken Hearts together. That was one hellova party.

For those of you that missed it, or couldn't get a good view, you've got another chance. Tomorrow night we'll be at the DNA lounge rocking out zombie style. This show is going to be out of control, no question. Not to mention all the fab DJ's they've got there, the give-aways in honor of MEAT's 4 year anniversary, the free meat and the hot gogo dancers.

Come on down and check us out. And wear something you don't mind getting fake blood on.

Also, we've started a Living Dead Girlz tribe. Come on over and join in on the feeding frenzy.

My answer to a friend who declined an invite to join The Endup

For years--since the late '70s in the days of disco to the rave parties of the '90s and beyond--that's where friends and I would frequently end up after all-nighters or almost all-nighters. Yes, it's always been Tweaker Central (even with bodies found in the patio bushes over the years), and yet it's had some of the best new and visiting DJs, atmosphere (especially on the poop deck in the back patio where you can watch the sun rise), regulars and irregulars hanging out, and just great ambiance.

I was in the old EndUp tribe until the time when it looked like the EndUp was going to become history and be sold and demolished last year; the EndUp didn't die but that tribe did. So when the eponymous Endup person revived a tribe, I joined, and have enjoyed the photos, chat, and info on its schedule and upcoming attractions.

Don't hesitate joining if you're at all interested in this classic treasure of a S.F. club!

However now you can have The Endup as you personal friend!

What could be better?

How about The Endup itself? If you haven't been down lately, then you haven't been to The Endup! New patio design, expanded sound system, more room, better music, longer hours, free shots!

Did I say FREE SHOTS??? Yes I did! Randomly as certain times for no particular reason our staff walk around with serving trays full of free shots! Just one of the ways we're making your experience at he Endup better than ever!

If you though Derick Carter spinning at the anniversary party was something special, you haven't seen ANYTHING yet! 2006 promises to be our most explosive yet ever!

Stay tuned for more info....

It's anniversary month!

The word I got today is that they're giving an iPod away every sunday to a lucky guest throughout teh entire month.

There's a lot of stuff happening such as a full website revamp, new talent coming in, Toni Braxton album release party with David Harness and a hell of a lot more in store.

Advice on finding house music for hula hoop instructional dvds?

I'm hoping for advice.

I am seeking original house music beats (preferably without too many lyrics) which can be included in a hula hooping instructional dvd I am making.

I perform and teach to lots of music, but my favorite is house music. Happier, juicy, soulful house with elements of disco -- basically any house music that makes you smile widely and tap your foot and shake your head.

Does anyone have any sugggestions on royalty free sources of such groovy music, or have leads on any friends who produce house music who may be open to donating a song to this creative project. I don't have any cash, but I can give you a copy of the final instructional dvds and a handcrafted pro hoop when the project is done.

With respect,
Christabel
